Hello All-
I wanted to update you as to what occurred at our last meeting.
We discussed varying ways to keep the group going.
First we discussed restructuring. As we are now, we do not have the infrastructure to maintain the group. Basically, what this means is that we have two ways to address this.
Option A We create positions of responsibility (not a board, since we are a group and not an organization). But, essentially they positions would mimic that of a board. We need to know who the point person is, the organizer etc. We need someone to take notes at each meeting providing us with a record of our discussions that we can disseminate to the group. We need someone to be responsible for the funds that come in and go out from the group.
We also need to read every script that is submitted to the group. If a writer takes the time to submit their work, the we owe it to them as a group to do a table read for every script.
We need to let writers know that we exist and will listen as well as suggest along the journey to production.
Option B is that we call for scripts of any and all to be read at out next meeting so that we create an excitement about coming to a meeting. An excitement about starting up again.
And then, once we have scripts to work with, we restructure so that we can continue on.
With those that were in attendance, it was decided to have a table read day first. What that means is that at our next meeting, we will host a two hour read through and get to as many scripts as we can in that time.
All we ask is that the writer bring copies for all of the characters in the script, plus 1 or 2 copies for anyone who wishes to peruse.
Our next meeting will be on June 17th from 10am-12pm at the Cocoa Beach Library.
Please RSVP by May 15th, so that I can reserve a room that can accommodate the group.
